About Sherry

Sherry Wilson is in love … with real estate! How else could she have stayed at the top of Loudoun County’s real estate list every year since 1984? How does she do it with such enthusiasm? That’s easy to answer. Seeing the smile on a satisfied client’s face is the most important thing in the world to her, and that’s why you’ll enjoy working with her more than anyone else in the business.

Sherry Wilson gave her first beautiful smile in The Bronx, New York. Nothing was going to stop her from the first time she laughed. She was raised in Miami, Florida and there she began to hone the skill of finding a diamond in the sand. That skill is one of the reasons she is so successful in real estate.

Sherry graduated from the University of Southern Florida in 1969 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She was teaching at J.L. Simpson Middle School in Leesburg when she decided to sell her home. After some time, she discovered that grumpy real estate agents and sad faces weren’t working for her, so, she got her real estate license and put a different spin on things; just one of the reasons she was named one of Howard Brinton’s Star Power Stars in 2000.

So what makes Sherry Wilson so successful in real estate? It’s her attention to detail. Her keen eye gives all of her clients the best option in the business. Sherry’s specialty is having the unique ability to look at any situation, find the loop holes and pitfalls, and navigate her clients around them. Her degree in education was the perfect choice before she ever decided on this career; now she gets to teach others the art of real estate, which, according to Sherry is one of her favorite things to do.

Sherry also loves to stay on top of the latest developments, so it shouldn’t surprise you that she brought an innovative team approach to real estate in Loudoun County. As a result, her organization is the most successful team ever to grace the streets of Virginia. She strives to keep her staff on top of the industry by administering ongoing training to perfect the entire experience for you. She shows them how to focus on what it takes to know the market and thrive within it. That’s how you know you are getting the absolute best out of the whole team.

So what does a top notch real estate team do for you? More than you could imagine. First, they’ll sit down and talk with you to figure out exactly what you need in regards to buying or selling your home. Then, they take your guidelines and develop a plan to meet your specific goals. And to keep in touch, each month they mail out informative and professional mailings, newsletters, and valuable information to all their clients – past and present. You won’t find that attention and care anywhere else in Loudoun County.

Sherry wants you to know that she strives to keep her team on top. “It is the pleasure I receive when a client looks at you square in the face and means the words...."Thank you....I could never have gotten this accomplished without you and your team" that drives and motivates me. Now, I understand that the key to my agent partners’ success is for me to mentor them by continually improving the systems and processes I have put into place for them over the last 10 years. I am also the one that they can bounce ideas off of, to help put concepts into perspective and to teach them different aspects of negotiation and market conditions. I love coaching, counseling, training, mentoring and motivating my team to be the best around.”

Real Estate Tips
Investment Real Estate >Selling Rental Properties

Marketing a rental property presents some special challenges. Owners will probably want to offer the house for sale while tenants are still living there so that the property continues to bring in income. However, most real estate agents prefer that their listings either be occupied by the owner or empty. Tenant-occupied homes are often the most difficult to sell since the tenants may not share the same pride of ownership. They may not be eager for the property to sell, and as a result, the house is not shown to its best advantage.

When you put a tenant-occupied house on the market, it is important that you enlist the tenants in the effort to get your house sold. Talk to the tenants first to see if they have a desire and ability to buy the house. If they are not interested in buying, work out with them the ground rules for access to the house. In most cases, the new owners will want the tenants to move, and it will be important to work out alternate living arrangements with them. In each situation, work hard to create a spirit of cooperation with the tenants.
